This Weekend At The Goldstar

Friday night footy, Herne Bay coach travel, Reserve friendly news

A brief news summary of goings on around the Goldstar Ground this weekend....

Friday evening sees the clubhouse opening at 7pm, showing the opening Premier League match between Liverpool v Norwich at 8pm. We've had a few gremlins in the cabling at the club this week, and repairs are underway although we are awaiting some parts. We have however managed to get the big projector screen working, so the match will be shown on this one screen. A darts challenge is also taking place between the Seasiders mens and new ladies darts teams.

On Saturday, The First Team make the trip to Herne Bay on the Kent coast for their final pre-season fixture. Away travel is available on the team coach for £10 a seat, or £5 for children. The clubhouse will open at 9.30am for those making the trip where breakfast rolls and drinks will be available to purchase before the coach departs at 10.30am.

The clubhouse then re-opens at 1pm for the Reserves final warm up game, Achilles from the SIL visiting for a 3pm kick off. The turnstiles will be closed for this match, with entry being through the main clubhouse doors. Admission is by donation towards the match expenses and the bar and snack bar will be open for business.

On Sunday, the scheduled pre-season fixture between Ipswich Town Women and MK Dons has been moved to the ITFC training ground in Playford Road, therefore the clubhouse will remain closed on Sunday. The Tractor Girls begin their home season at the Goldstar Ground next Sunday, 18th August when they welcome AFC Wimbledon in the FA Women's National League at 2pm. Once again, Seasiders and ITFC season ticket holders can watch all ITFC Women games for FREE, with general admission £2 & £1 and U16's also free. The bar and snack bar will be open for each ITFC Women's fixture as well as live football on the club screens.
