Passing of club legend John ‘Tubby’ Harrall

Passing of club legend John ‘Tubby’ Harrall

It is with great sadness the club has learnt of the passing of John ‘Tubby’ Harrall. Tubby passed on Saturday 28th May 2022 aged 77 in Ipswich hospital.

Part of the Felixstowe Town side of the late 60’s and early 70’s, a side full of characters amongst whom Tubby stood out, not so much for his football skills, although he was a very good footballer, but his off-field activities and unrivalled sense of humour.

Tubby and his wife Margie were very good golfers and will be well remembered at FFGC

Better known to many in Felixstowe as the carpet fitter man, many hundreds of residences on the peninsula and the surrounding villages benefitted from his skills at laying carpets. Non more so than the football club on many occasions.

Tubby had become a frequent visitor to the Seasiders home games in the last couple of seasons following surgery to amputate a leg after illness, and could often be seen in the bar in his wheelchair accompanied by his wife/carer Margie

Tubby is survived by Margie and his three children John, Sara & Tina.

RIP old friend you will be missed!
