First Team & Juniors complete epic lockdown challenge!

Club comes together to raise funds for good causes

Back in January, our First Team & Management came up with the idea of keeping active, and bringing the club together to raise funds for good causes, with a 'Lockdown Challenge'. Over 100 members of the seniors, juniors, management, junior coaches and the odd club official registered through the Strava running app to log their individual daily runs to clock up the miles on an epic journey.
Despite the snow and ice causing havoc for a week in the middle of the month, they ran the 1748 mile virtual distance from Land’s End to John O’Groats... and back again! Not content with that distance, and with 3 days still to go, they then added the 300+ miles to return home to Felixstowe, crossing the finishing line yesterday evening having completed an incredible 2116 miles in total!
The challenge raised funds to purchase brand new sets of goalpost for our Junior teams, as well as supporting the Level Two Youth Project and we're delighted to announce the initial target of £1000 was smashed, with a total of £1240 donated using the crowdfunder platform.
First Team Manager Stuart Boardley commented "It's been a fun but gruelling challenge. The main aim was to get our Youth teams involved with the First Team and to this end it worked fantastically. Not only that, but we completed in excess of 2000 miles so a massive thank you to everyone who joined in!"
Joint Chairman Chris Daynes added "Once again it proves what can be achieved when everyone pulls together in the same direction. It would have been easy to lose touch with all the players during lockdown, but credit to everyone for using this period to not only raise funds to benefit the Juniors and a local youth charity, but to also cement the relationship between the sections of the club. A big well done to everyone who took part, and huge thanks to all those who made a donation."
