Jordy Matthews: 250+ appearances

After the home game against Basildon United on Saturday, Club Vice-Chairman Tony Barnes presented Jordy Matthews with a club certificate for having made 250 games plus for Felixstowe & Walton United.

All football fans are familiar with the phrase “He’s one of our own” and that certainly applies to Jordan Matthews, always a fans’ favourite. Jordy was 14 years old when he first joined the club’s youth set up and made his debut for the reserves when he was 18 years old, playing in that team for a season.

He did, however, make his real debut when he was just 16 in a one-off appearance against Tiptree in a cup game. Jordy really is a manager’s dream as he never fails to give a full 100% in every single game. He’s equally happy in midfield as he is in the number 10 shirt, managing to cover every blade of grass game after game. With his fair share of goals and tackles, he is the ultimate all-round player.

Jordy’s fondest memories are playing in the final of The Suffolk Premier Cup against Leiston at Portman Road, beating Ipswich Town in The Suffolk Premier Cup and scoring five goals against Clacton in a league game.

Every year fans say, “You are staying with us for another year or three aren’t you?” It will be a sad day when he eventually says, “That’s me done.” Lets hope that’s not for a while yet.

Thanks Jordy from everyone connected with the club.
