Under 8 Match Stories 2016/17

April 16th

The under sevens travelled to Ipswich to play Coppleston with three teams playing three games each.

After some high scoring wins recently the boy's came back down to earth with a bump with some very competitive games.

The whites came away with a win, a draw and a defeat.

Cian was their top scorer with four goals with Jackson netting two.

Charlie M was outstanding but all boys performed well.

The reds in their games drew won and lost two but again defeats were by a narrow margin.

Ashton and Ryan again played well with Max M again doing well in defence.

Finally the blacks lost three games but all were narrow defeats.

George and Keaton both scored three and Issac and Charlie W had good games.

Coppleston played well and on the day deserved their narrow victories.

Thanks for Bruce, Tony and Chris for organising the matches and refereeing.

Next week we travel to Whitton for a couple of games.

The boys overall done well and know what standards we have to be at to perform as well as Coppleston on a regular basis.

Hard work in training will get us there .

9th April 2016

We made the long journey to Framlingham to play a double header against our hosts on AstroTurf at the Thomas Mills School, in wet and miserable conditions the reds in the first game adapted to the conditions and played some nice football.

George opened the scoring and from then on the boy's never looked back, the score eventually finished up with us scoring fourteen and Framlingham scoring a couple of consolation goals. George and Keaton scored six and there was a goal a piece for Charlie W and Riley.

In game two the whites never let the opponents settle and pressed them for the whole game, all the boy's contributed and run out sixteen one winners. Ashton and Ryan scored six each and Caspar along with Jackson got a couple of goals,Max M played well in defence and is a welcome addition to our squad having joined us from the under eights.

Another good display from the boy's in horrible wet conditions which was a testament to their hunger to perform. Training for the boy's who have been attending is paying off with them showing good  technique and team play which has pleased Scott and I.

Thanks finally to the parents again for suffering in the pouring rain after a long journey to the ground.

Next week a sterner test at Coppleston which will see how well we are progressing.

26th March 2015

The under sevens entertained Claydon at the Goldstar Ground on 26th March in a double header.

First up were the whites who conceded early in the first half but responded quickly with two goals from George.  Keaton then added another two before half time. In the second half the boy's played some nice passing football and rewarded with seven more goals.

George added another three, Keaton two more and a goal a piece from Max P and Isaac.

There was a good debut from Max M who had dropped down from under eights who played a solid game in defence.

In game two the reds had a much tighter game and played well with Ashton and Charlie B not fully fit due recent illness.

They took the lead though  in the first half through Charlie M after some good play by Ashton and Ryan.

In the second half they pushed for a second with Caspar,  Zac and Ashton all going close but were denied by good goal keeping  or the woodwork.

Claydon equalised with five minutes left of the game to level things up and that was the last of the scoring.

The boy's all played well and with a little bit of luck could have edged this keenly fought contest.

The boys have a week off now and then it's Framlingham away on the 09th April on AstroTurf.

Have a Good Easter and thanks all your hard work in recent weeks.

Enjoy your rest

19th March 2015

The boys made the long trip to Norfolk to play Diss in two friendly matches.

In game one the reds played some nice football and kept Diss on the back foot for the whole game.

They ran out winners 18 to nil with George scoring six, Keaton five, Evan three, Riley two

Charlie M and Charlie B scoring one.

In game two the whites didn't let up fom where the reds left off  and also scored 18 with Diss scoring in the last second of the second half  which was well deserved for their effort.

Cian scored seven, Ryan three, Ashton two, Zac two , Caspar two, an own goal and a first goal for Charlie W from the penalty spot.

The whites showed great maturity by letting Diss score their goal to cheer them up after a long morning for their boys and I applaud them for that.

I would like to thank Mark from Diss for arranging match and his coaches for setting up pitch.

A big thank you to all the parents who made the long journey and stood in the cold it seemed for the whole day.

Then finally thanks to Scott and Carl who give up there time every Friday evening and Saturday mornings to coach the boy's and see the gradual improvement week by week.

_______________

The under sevens had three games weekend March 12th.

Two teams had a double header against  Whitton under sevens at home.

Both teams performed well and came out on top in both games.

The reds were first up and they won five nil with Zac scoring two and one a piece for Isaac B, Caspar and Riley.

Then the whites played out an eight four win with Ashton scoring five and Cian three.

Both matches were well contested and thanks to Jason from Whitton  for bringing his boys down for the games.

Also I would like to thank Carl, Warren and Ross for taking the boys and refereeing.

The blacks were away against Inspire under eights.

This was a tough set of games for the boy's against a team who were a year older and that bit stronger and quicker.

They were beaten nine four in game one George scoring three and Keaton one.

In game two they drew six all and George scored all six.

The boy's performed so well and never gave up and all run and tackled for eighty minutes which for seven boys was no mean feat.

A special mention for Charlie W who was outstanding in goal and then performed well on pitch.

Also to George scoring nine goals in two games which is a fine effort.

A big thank you to Sam and Josh for putting on the games and all their boys for playing game in right spirit.

So another good weekend for the boy's well done I am very proud of you all you.

Holbrook – Home

5th March 2016

In the first game the whites played some nice passing football and scored some excellent goals in a twelve one win. George and Jackson got four goals each , Max and Zac two and Keaton and Evan one each.

Evan scored his first goal for the club which was special moment for him and his Dad Gary. Charlie W also played well in defence and in goal making some good saves.

In the second game the reds also won with the same result twelve one. Ashton scored six, Cian two, Ryan three and Caspar. The team showed good pace down the wings with Ryan and Cian creating a lot of chances for Ashton who converted when in front of goal.

A special mention for Charlie M who ran the midfield and played in some great corners.

It takes two teams to make a match and Holbrook played their part, worked hard and never gave up in both games.

Thanks to Adrian for bringing the boy's to Felixstowe and for the way his boys played in the correct spirit.

For our boys, it again shows training is paying off on a Friday night with improved displays on a Saturday.

Well done to all boys those who played and those who trained and keep up the way you are playing and most of all enjoy it.

Finally thanks to Scott and Carl for your help again.

There is no team without your continued help.

Claydon Turnament

The under sevens travelled to Claydon for a number of four v four friendlies.

In the first match the whites had a very good eight to two win with goals coming from Jackson three Max three and Isaac B two.

The team performed well and played some good passing football.

In game two the reds came away with a three to two win with George scoring two and Keaton also getting on the score sheet.

In the Final game the blacks also came out on top with a six to two victory.

George netted four , Keaton one and a first goal for Riley.

Overall a pleasing morning with all the boy's showing improvement week on week and the extra training on a Friday night starting to pay off.

Thanks to Gary for hosting and for arranging the matches.

Also thanks to Aaron and Ross for helping me out and the parents for turning up on a bitterly cold day.

All the boy's played the game in a good spirit and Claydon played there part in some evenly contested matches.

Next few weeks we host Holbrook and Whitton at home and we look for continued progress in the boy's play.

The under7 had some friendly matches against Coppleston away on February 20th.

The matches were well organised by Bruce assisted by Tony and the other host coaches.

Some nice football was played by all the sides and keenly fought.

The spirit they were played in was good and the boys all had a good time.

Jacob, Sam and Remi for the home side put in some good performances.

For Felixstowe we had some firsts which were encouraging.

Charlie M scored his first goal, Isaac scored his first hatrick.

Then we had Ryan first time in goal for a match and he was outstanding.

Thanks to Scott and Aaron for helping out and the parents for supporting.

A good day was had by all and thanks once again to Coppleston for hosting.

Coppleston Tournament

The under sevens were invited to a mini tournament at Coppleston on the 16th January.

Competing were five teams from Coppleston three from Felixstowe and two from Witnesham.

All the teams performed well on their first football for over a month due Christmas and the weather.

The blues won three drew one and lost one with Ashton and Ryan playing some good football supported by Connor and Oliver.

The reds played five won four and lost one with Cian , Frank and Caspar all amongst the goals.

Finally the whites played five won four and lost one.

George and Keaton got three goals each and a first goal Teddy Sherringham like from Isaac . This goal was well deserved for a boy who has been out since September with a broken arm.

I was very pleased by all the boy's who turned up and played in freezing conditions and to their parents who endured the cold.

Also thanks to Bruce at Coppleston for arranging the tournament which was well organised.

Holbrook Tournament

The boys travelled to Holbrook to play a number of friendlies against a mixture of the hosts under sevens and eights. The Seasiders Reds played first, taking on the hosts Under eights and came away with a fine 6-3 win with Cian netting four, Ashton one and George one. Overall a great performance against boys a year older than themselves.

The blacks then played another under eights team and conceded in the last minute to lose 5-4. George netted a hat-trick and Jackson also scored in an even and well fought contest.

The Whites then took on the Under sevens and came away with a 5-3 win.

Charlie M switched to midfield after playing defence in the first game and netted twice, Ashton came on for a short period and scored while Keaton and Frank also netted.

The games were well hosted by Holbrook and we look forward to a rematch later in the season.

Saturday 21st November
FA Tournament
Copleston

On a cold wet blustery Saturday morning the under sevens took four teams to take part in an F. A. Mini Tournament at Copleston School, Ipswich.

In almost impossible conditions the boy's did incredibly well to even play, all teams had some good results with the blacks winning seven nil in one game with Ashton scoring three!

The reds won two drew one and lost one, Connor and George netting for Felixstowe & Walton. The blues played four with Cian in great form scoring all their goals in an undefeated run. The whites also performed well with Zac, Max, Charlie and Frank all knocking the ball about well.

But the most admiration goes to all the parents and grandparents who turned up and tried to keep warm while the boy's were playing.

The pictures tell the story more than any words.

Saturday 7th November 2015

The under sevens took four teams to Portman Road and were up against teams from Suffolk and Norfolk for an Inter-County tournament, all the teams were in strong groups and all performed well in difficult conditions having to contend with strong winds and rain.

Seasiders Reds had some good wins with Ashton, Cian and Ryan in good scoring form.

Seasiders Blacks won three and drew three with a couple of good wins against Stow Falcons and we had Jackson, scoring at will and also George and Keaton scoring three and two respectively. Also Evan needs to be mentioned for his disciplined performance at the back. The other two teams didn't fare as well in terms of results but it is all about progressing and learning and playing together.

Carl's team had some good team play with Zac and Max working well together supported by Isaac and Connor who scored a good goal.

Warren took the team with no experience at playing at Ipswich as the fourth team and all deserve a mention for their effort and endeavour.

Nathan, Oliver, Darius, Alfie and Charlie.

Lastly a BIG thanks to the parents who had to stand in the wind and rain for over two hours, it was a good experience for the boy's and gives me lots to work on to improve the boys in the near future.

Saturday 3rd October 2015
The under sevens were asked to take a team to Portman road to play this weekend.
The eight selected were in a hard group with ipswich academy, Colchester villa and Walsham.
They came away winning three  and losing three which was a good effort in a hard group.
All the work in training paid off with some good passing and team work throughout.
Ashton D had a good day driving his team on with some great performances and was well supported by George  C , Keaton H and Charlie  M.
In the other team there was a couple of good goals by Max P and Ryan and Isaac and Zac played there part in some good play.
Overall a good learning experience for both the boy's and the coaches and gives us an idea where we need to be to compete with the best teams in the region.
We now will try and step it up looking at training during the week at a local sports centre.

Portman Road, Ipswich

Inter-Team Matches

The club entered three teams in the mini tournament playing a total of 12 games and did very well winning nine, drawing one and losing just two. All the boys performed well with the training during the summer paying off with some with some good team play.

George C. had a particular good day scoring five goals as did Max P. who scored three.

In the other team Ashton D. was outstanding in a midfield role and has been asked to attend training with Ipswich Town on a Wednesday evening which is testament to his recent good performances, the whole squad played at least three games each and all contributed to the good results.

Thank you to the parents who bought their children and gave them support and to Scott Davis and Carl Stannard the Assistant Coaches who together with Mark Gray kept all the boys on their toes with their constructive comments to all the boys during the games.

The boys now have training for the next few weeks and then will look to play some friendlies in October before returning to Portman Road in November.
