Kesgrave Kestrals U14 0 v 3 Felixstowe & Walton Utd U14 Red

Back to winning ways for the U14 Red

This was the third match of the Suffolk Youth League Div 2 season, away at Kesgrave High School. It was chilly, but at least the rain held off until the final whistle.

With two squad members unavailable, coach Jason started with Oscar in goal, Jack, Seb, Charlie G & Sankerman in defence. Charlie O., George & Ellen in midfield, Jake and Matt working the flanks, Nartey up front. 12th man Josh B.

The first half was fairly even, although The Seasiders looked the more likely to score. Oscar dealt well with anything that came his way, the defence was firm, the midfield battled hard for possession and up top we worried The Kestrels with our pacy and aggressive front runners.

35 mins – Half Time 0-0.

Josh B slotted in at right back, Jack moving to left back.

5 mins into the second half, Matt threaded a ball through the high Kesgrave back line, for Jake to run onto. The advancing keeper blocked his first effort, but Jake calmly netted with his second attempt. 1-0.

This seemed to calm the Felixstowe nerves, and when Ellen cleared away long from the restart, for Matt to run onto, we had a second goal in almost identical fashion.

41 mins. 2-0.

The next goal would be important of course. We kept Kesgrave out, and continued to press forward looking for the killer goal.

As the second half drew to a close, Ellen had a corner which she curled in at the near post, where Seb flicked it home from close range.

70 mins Full Time 3-0.

A great bounce back from last weeks defeat and many good personal performances. Jason’s Man Of The Match award goes to Charlie O.

He seems to be enjoying his football in the new central midfield role, where he is far more involved in the game. Well done Charlie.

Ipswich Phoenix at our home patch next Saturday.
